Letting go of how
There we were, the three of us—me, my husband, and our 19-year-old son—sitting in a row on a JetBlue flight headed to Grenada. It was June 1, 2025. We looked at each other with so much excitement.
It had taken everything to get to this point, and now the reality was finally settling in I remember so clearly while sitting in our seats, equally mixed feelings of exhaustion, anticipation, relief and awe that we actually made it onto this flight and about to embark on a brand new 73 day journey in a country we had never visited!
The Truth Beneath the Adventure
This trip didn’t begin as some grand lesson in “letting go.” On the surface, it was simply a family adventure, a chance to explore somewhere new. But underneath, life was shifting.
Part of that transition was practical—our son stepping into adulthood, and my husband and I beginning to navigate life as new empty nesters. We had sold our home and were living in a winter rental, still unsure of what “home” would look like for us next. When the opportunity came to spend the summer in Grenada through friends and family connections, we said yes. What started as a logistical solution quickly became something far greater: a chance to redefine abundance, not through a perfect plan, but through presence, adventure, and the gift of being together.
For years, I had been planning for this next phase, trying to map out every detail. But once I was finally sitting on that plane, I realized the real work had nothing to do with external logistics. The real work was inside of me.
It was about loosening my grip on the how—how things would unfold, how I thought they “should” look, how control felt like safety.
Healing in Motion
I’ve always believed our charts hold clues. My Chiron sits in Aries in the 8th House—an archetype of deep transformation and healing. That placement has taught me that my wounds are never just my own. When I commit to healing myself, I’m also creating ripples of healing for others.
This journey became about more than beaches, markets, or waterfalls. It became about practicing presence, about allowing myself to step into the unknown with curiosity instead of fear.
Jupiter’s Blessing
Astrologically, the timing was powerful too. Jupiter had just entered Gemini—a transit that expands communication, connections, and curiosity. For me, July unfolded as a month of true abundance.
But the abundance wasn’t just about opportunity or material gain. It showed up in the simplest, most profound way: through the bonds of my family. Long conversations with my husband. Laughter and discovery with my son. Shared meals, shared sunsets, shared awe at being together in paradise.
That, I realized, was abundance at its truest form. Not the chase for “more,” but the joy of presence and connection.
No Guru Needed
Here’s the thing: I wasn’t following a spiritual coach’s ten-step program or clinging to a manifestation guru’s advice. While those voices had been valuable along the way, what I really needed was simpler—and harder.
I needed to live more intentionally. To let go of the how. To remember that life moves whether or not I have every detail planned, and that sometimes the most abundant experiences come when I release the script.
