When the Stars Align: my latest client’s Journey Home

Sometimes the path to homeownership isn’t a straight line—and that’s okay.

Three summers ago, my client and I were searching for a home during one of the most challenging real estate markets I’ve ever experienced. Inventory was at historic lows, competition was fierce, and many homes were receiving multiple offers from cash buyers and investors almost as soon as they hit the market.

Like so many buyers at the time, my client found herself competing in a market that simply wasn’t set up in her favor.

As her Realtor, my job wasn’t just to help her buy a house. My job was to help her make the best decision for her life.

At the time, her daughters were younger and still in high school, and what mattered most was creating stability, security, and a place where her family could feel safe and settled. Instead of forcing a purchase in an overheated market, we made the decision to find a rental that would give her the breathing room she needed while keeping her close to the community she loved.

It wasn’t the ending we had originally imagined.

But it was the right decision.

Over the years, we stayed connected and kept the dream alive. Life continued to unfold. Her daughters grew older. Priorities shifted. New possibilities emerged.

And sometimes, that’s exactly how alignment works.

This week, my client officially went under contract on a home of her own.

When we spoke, she smiled and said, “The stars have aligned.”

I couldn’t agree more.

What’s especially meaningful is that this home fits the season of life she’s entering now. With her daughters grown, an adult community offers the lifestyle, simplicity, and sense of community that makes perfect sense for where she is today. Even better, it’s located near the area she’s been renting in for the last three years—the place that has already become home.

Looking back, what once felt like a detour was actually part of the path.

One of the greatest misconceptions about real estate is that success means getting a deal done as quickly as possible. I see it differently. Success is helping people make decisions that support their lives—not just in the moment, but for the future they’re growing into.

Sometimes that means buying.

Sometimes that means waiting.

Sometimes that means choosing the option that provides peace instead of pressure.

My client's journey is a beautiful reminder that the right home arrives when the timing, circumstances, and person are ready for one another.

Thank you for trusting me through every chapter of this journey. It has been an honor to walk beside you every step of the way.

Congratulations on this exciting new beginning. 🏡✨

Reflection for You:

If you’re navigating an empty nest—or any major life transition—ask yourself:

  • What does home mean to me in this season?

  • Where am I being invited to expand?

  • What new horizons am I ready to step into?
